District Goals
95% overall attendance
90% of students with 90% or higher attendance
The state measures our district’s attendance for accreditation purposes by looking at the percent of students who are here 90% of the time. Our attendance improved from 84.6% of students here 90% of the time during the 2012-13 year to 88.1% of our students who were here 90% of the time during the 2013-14 school year.
Procedures
When a student is absent from school, the parent/guardian must call the office and report the reason for the absence. If the parent does not call, the parent must provide a note explaining the reason for the absence. Students shall present that note to the office upon return to school. (Board Policy JED-R1)
Attendance secretaries at each school will call/email parents who do not verify absences by 10 a.m.
Automated calls will be sent nightly to parents who have not verified a student's absence by the end of the school day.
Illness
The district's policy for illness is that students should stay home at least 24 hours after a fever is gone without the use of fever-reducing drugs such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen.
